The objective of sending the co-op personnel to the conference is to learn from examples of practices in Asia and South East Asia on resources management in the highlands regions.

The conference is hosted by the Chiang Mai University. This first conference on resources management in the highlands regions is held in this second largest city in the Kingdom of Thailand brings professors and researches from around the world, and most speakers are from the host Chinag Mai University itself.

KSU Baliem Arabica wants to learn from this conference how the authorities and academics are facing various natural and environmental problems facing in the highlands in Asia and South East Asia, regarding food security, renewable energy, irrigation, and other topics related to the highlands regions.

There will be “Thematic sessions” in this conference where the professors and researchers will present various topics at the same time each day, which participants can choose which ones are appropriate or of interest to them. There are topics/ sessions on coffee and also cooperative that are important for the cooperative to learn from. One particular topic is on Robusta Coffee in the highlands, that is also interesting to know. (Please Click here to read datailed Schedule of the Conference)

KSU Baliem Arabica is hoping that all expenses of time, energy and money will bring about long-term benefits to the cooperative, to the highlands communities in Papua, the same as the resources spent to attend the World Parks Congress held at Olympic Park, Sydney, Australia from 12-19 November 2014. Attending both international events and others in the coming months or years are beneficial for the cooperative and for the local communities in Papua and Papua Barat provinces of Indonesia. We are looking forward to seeing the outcome of attending such conference to the natural environment and society in our region
