There was a meeting held by the Provincial Government of Papua involving various parties at the provincial level in order to stabilize the price of coffee and Cocoa.
The Chair of the Papua Arabica Speialty Coffee, Mr. Selion Karoba was invited to give his assessment on the current development on prices of both commodities expressed his concern that there has been no government regulations and monitoring in order to assist local Papuan businesses and businessmen in developing their entrepreneurs. So far government only focus on physical construction activities.
With no assistance or protection from the government but KSU Baliem Arabica currently already has some branches in Papua itself, one distributor in Java and one distributor in Australia.
The Chair of the co-op encouraged more participation and active monitoring from the government agencies in order to help local businesses to continue doing business.
We are hopeful that there will be more government monitoring in the future in order to help local businesses grow.
